Located on the banks of Talek river, on the
north boundary of the Masai Mara National Reserve, the Mara
Simba Lodge is an exclusive and comfortable resort occupying
an area that extends for almost one kilometre along the river.
The gardens are rich in native flora yet the river banks have
been left undisturbed.
The first lodge in Kenya -and still one of
the few- to install a Waste Water Treatment Plant, the Mara
Simba counts 84 spacious rooms, arranged in clusters of 6
in wooden huts, each one complete with en suite showers and
tiled bathrooms. Moreover, the Maasai-style furnished rooms
open to a private veranda that overlook the river.
Dinning -served either in the restaurant
or bar- is taken quite seriously here, and in fact the Mara
Simba offers one of the best cuisines in the area (it's even
possible to have a black-tie dinner organized for you).
For a different perspective of the reserve,
one-hour balloon safaris can be booked, which end with a suggestive
bush breakfast. The lodge also offers foot safaris conducted
by a resident naturalist, a great chance for some birdwatching.
Facilities include a gift shop and a large
inviting swimming pool.
